In less than a week, the group of teachers and students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - Danang University successfully created robots to replace people in the quarantine area due to the covid-19 epidemic .

After determining the needs of the hospital, a team of 5 teachers, alumni of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering - University of Danang - came up with the idea and design and manufacture of robots to transport food to serve in the areas. isolation. Robot successfully tested the afternoon 22-3.

Food, medicine and necessary items after placing on the robot will be taken to the isolation rooms. The robot will play a loudspeaker to notify people in a sick room. Doctors and isolators can exchange via speaker system, microphone on robots without direct contact.

The first robot manufactured by this school will be put into operation tomorrow 23-3 at Danang Maternity Hospital.

The robot is simply controlled by a multi-directional control button. This robot body is made of stainless steel, simple structure without many angles so easy to disinfect.

On the robot, there is a camera to observe people in the isolation room, there is a speaker system for doctors to monitor the status of people in isolation.

The advantage of robots is that the speed can be flexibly adjusted, expandable to transport complex objects, moving people in case of need with a load of up to hundreds of pounds.

According to Dr. Vo Nhu Thanh - head of the department of mechatronics, mechanical engineering, people involved in making robots - the most difficult is that all stages are done within 1 week. Teachers and students must persuade outsourcing units to put aside all other jobs to focus on supporting the finishing of products in the situation of stressful epidemics.

The cost of rushing processing and components is about 50 million, if making the number of more than 10 robots, the cost will reduce significantly.

Associate Professor Luu Duc Binh, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Da Nang University of Technology, said that the first robot was handed over free of charge to Danang Maternity and Children Hospital. The cost of manufacturing robots from the faculty and school with the support of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology Fund.

"Robots will have a relay function to serve patients during treatment isolation to reduce the workload for health workers, above all to prevent, reduce spread and ensure health. for the medical team in the prevention of epidemics " - Mr. Binh said.
