Techniques to help the ancient people put stone caps 13 tons on top of the statue
The researchers said they figured out how people transported rock caps 13 tons across the island and placed them 10 meters high.
The hat is rolled up with parbuckling technique.
After building 3D models of stone cylinders, the team analyzed the details and characteristics of each cylinder (pukao).
They hypothesized that hats were rolled onto the top using a gentle slope with the technique of pulling a rope (parbuckling).
Through the 3D model, they can calculate the required length of a rolling ramp along with the number of employees needed to pull the pukao into place.
With a 23-100m slope and a slope of 5-20 degrees, each team of 15 people can transport pukao to the desired position.
