Terrible consequences from parasitic worms

Last year, Africa had about 2000 cases of body weakness caused by parasitic worms.

This parasitic worm can produce thousands of larvae in water sources that make up the pathogen. There are currently no effective vaccines or treatments for patients infected with parasitic worms.

Although parasitic worms do not kill people infected with worms immediately, they can cause pain after people drink contaminated water. Specifically, about a few months after drinking this water will have worms appear under the skin of patients.

Earlier, the push to kill parasitic worms was started by the Carter Center - founded by former US President Jimmy Carter since 1986.

When the Carter Center began a plan to fight parasitic worms 25 years ago, there were about 3.5 million cases of illness in 21 countries in Africa and Asia.

"Parasitic worms leave terrible consequences on the health, education and employment of countries, " Carter said . It prevents people from escaping poverty. '

The Department for International Development (DflD) is ready to spend £ 20 million to launch the program. However, that number only solves about 1/3 of the cost for this program.

Therefore, this amount of support will be used for the Carter Center to train human resources in monitoring epidemics and use fabrics to filter drinking water.

If successful, this will be the first time a disease has been wiped out through an education program that raises awareness among people without the use of drugs or vaccines. That means the disease caused by parasitic worms is on the verge of being wiped out.

Recently Nigeria, Niger and Ghana have been successful in their efforts to wipe out diseases caused by parasitic worms.
