Shivered by the doctor 'catching' parasitic worms from the human eye

An unnamed patient in Karnataka, India, recently had a doctor remove a parasitic worm in the eye.

The parasitic worm was summarized by the doctor from the patient's eyes up to 15cm long. As soon as this ' strange object' is discovered, the doctor must immediately find a way to deal with it or it will cause a severe sequela for the patient's eyesight.

Previously, a 60-year-old patient who had gone to a hospital in Karnataka, India, had a 'strange' creature wiggling at the white-eyed area.

A worm that only appears in the eyes of a patient in India makes many people shudder.

Dr. Srikanth Shetty directly handles this special case. With a parasitic worms that are constantly bouncing around, it's really not easy to catch them without hurting the patient's eyes.

After being taken out of the eye of a 60-year-old patient, the 'identity' of the parasitic worm is Wuchereria Bancrofti (worms only) . Larvae of this parasite exist in mosquitoes, primarily infecting humans through mosquito bites.

Before being removed, the worm was only 15cm long and still wiggled in the patient's eyes.

They are the cause of lymphatic filariasis, otherwise known as elephantiasis.

According to information from the Institute of Malaria - parasites - insects TP. HCM, lymphatic filariasis or also known as elephantiasis , is a neglected tropical disease (Neglected tropical disease - NTD), seriously affecting public health in many tropical countries and subtropical world.

Lymphatic filariasis is a parasitic infection of Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia malayi or Brugia timori. In Vietnam, only two types are Wuchereria bancrofti and Brugia malayi, in which Brugia malayi is the majority (over 90%).
