Test results: 'Thanh Den ancient rice' is modern rice

The seed grain sprouting from the excavation of Thanh Den (Me Linh, Hanoi) sent to Japan has shown that it is a modern rice variety but not as originally expected - 3,000 years old rice.

" Test results by AMS analysis method of seed pods sprouting 9 trees by the Japanese side for results exceeding 40pMC - pMC is the modern carbon element content in specimens " - Assoc. Thi My Dung - who hosted the excavation of Thanh Den said on September 30, at the 45th archaeological notice conference. Therefore, it is not dated, and according to this content, the model belongs to modern times.

Samples sent to Japan from shells are still stuck to the cultural layer.

As explained by Associate Prof. Dr. Lam Thi My Dung, the level of 40 units is considered the standard level. If this content in the sample is less than 40 units, new scientists continue to analyze to find the date, exceeding 40 is the modern model.

The domestic agronomists also planted and compared 9 Thanh Dau rice plants with Khang Dan 18 trees and said that, in terms of morphology and growth time as well as some other biological indicators, 9 rice plants Thanh Den basically resembles Khang Dan 18 rice variety.

Sampling method completely complies with archaeological sampling process, done by Dr. Lam Thi My Dung himself.

Associate Prof. Dr. Lam Thi My Dung also said that there is no sign of disturbing the cultural layer in the process of excavating the site into Den. Therefore, in order to be well-researched and to produce accurate scientific results on the phenomenon of germination, it is probably the most reasonable and feasible to conduct a new study including the from field work to laboratory analysis and research with strict control of processes and application of archaeological and biological methods, especially analysis of natural environmental conditions and Microbiological composition of kitchen garbage pits where there is specimen.
