"My legs hurt and I was vomiting, dizzy. I had an ultrasound about 10 times in a private clinic and a public hospital. Doctors didn't believe it," said Maria de la Luz . "They told me it was a girl. Look, you can see the baby's face," Maria de la Luz pointed at the ultrasound image.

According to Maria, some of her seven children were unhappy to hear that her mother was pregnant. They said she was too old for things like this. Maria said the next appointment with the obstetrician was on July 18. She hopes to give birth by caesarean section because her advanced age does not allow normal delivery. If she gives birth at age 70, Maria will become the oldest mother in birth history.

The record of the oldest woman in the world gave birth to Maria del Carmen Bousada de Lara in Spain, who gave birth to twins Chritian and Pau in December 2006 when nearly 67 years old. She had surgery before her due date and each baby weighed 1.6 kg. Bousada de Lara admitted to lying to doctors about her true age when she went to a hospital in California, USA, to do artificial insemination.
