The 'alien' world is underground

Unique natural stone shapes and impressive lighting effects make Obir Tropfsteinh caves, eastern Austria look like an underground 'alien' world.

According to the Daily Mail, scientists have explored continuous caves, tens of meters below the ground in search of information that can help solve the problems surrounding climate change.

The team also carefully charted the movement of water through billions of years-old slabs of the Apls in Austria. They used a fluorescent dye, which could be traced through underground reservoirs to the water source.

British photographer Robbie Shone, 32, has swept dozens of meters deep into the ground to accompany exploratory scientists mocking giant stone and crystal shapes. Shone said it was difficult to penetrate the caves because they were completely dark and you had to be careful with every step.

Despite the dangers, Shone crawled through cracks in the caves to capture impressive images. The photographer confessed, everyone was shocked at his photos because it was rare to be capped in such a way. Usually, adventurers only use small torches to illuminate the cave, not the bright lights that Shone's group used.
