warm up with 'unmatchable consequences', warnings from scientists.

Studies by the Woods Hole Research Center in the United States in Amazonia said the vast rainforest is on the verge of turning into a desert, causing catastrophic consequences for the world climate. This process may not be reversible and may start early next year.

The study concluded that the forest could not survive after more than 2 years of continuous drought and the possibility of forest trees would be mass die in early 2007.

The vast Amazon forest can absorb up to 90 billion tons of carbon, enough to speed up global warming by 50%. Scientists say the rate of deforestation and climate change has made the Amazon forest unable to recover itself after many years of continuous drought in the region.
