Astronomers are about to have a chance to admire the supermoon, which happens when the full moon nearly coincides with the near-point (the point closest to the Earth in the orbit of the Moon), making it look bigger and brighter than usual.
Compared to other full moons in 2020, the full moon in April is closest to the point , which means the Moon will be the largest. NASA said that the Moon will pass near the point at 1h08 and the fullest at 9h35 on 8/4 (Hanoi time).
The full moon in April is called the pink moon after the color of Phlox subulata. This is one of the first flowers to bloom throughout the eastern United States when spring comes. In addition, the full moon in April is also known as the egg moon, fish moon or sprouting grass moon .
The supermoon concept was introduced by astronomer Richard Nolle in 1979. On average, a supermoon is about 7% larger and 15% brighter than a full moon. However, if observed with the naked eye, this difference is difficult to recognize.
