The bird buried under the ice for 4,000 years remains intact

The remains of the dead bird still had an intact heart after 4,200 years under the ice, surprising the scientists.

The 4,200-year hardened corpse of a red-winged thrush was found in intact preservation in Norway, RT reported on August 5. The researchers decided to cut the dead bird's body to determine whether the internal organs remained after such a long time.

A security guard discovered the dead bird at the frozen riverbank in the Oppdal Mountains, according to Jorgen Rosvold, a researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

The scientist conducted bird anatomy.

"It is amazing that the specimen is more than 4,000 years old. We have never done an autopsy and looked inside a bird for thousands of years," Rosvold said.

The researchers found that the bird was captured and killed by a wolf or fox."We know the wolves use ice to store food during the summer. Therefore, this thrush can be buried by wolves under the ice and until now have been found , " Rosvold speculated.

Test results show that some of the bird's internal organs are intact, including the heart and liver. This may help the team to have a better view of living conditions in Norway thousands of years ago.

"The intact bodies give us the opportunity to conduct inspections and understand environmental conditions when the bird dies," Rosvold said.
