First, the bus loaded enough energy before each itinerary. During passenger arrival and departure at every third or fourth stop, the bus will be loaded with 400 kilowatts of electricity in 15 seconds when the charger is installed on the roof of the vehicle connecting the outlet at the stop. At the terminal, the bus may take 3-4 minutes to fully charge the battery.
The TOSA charging system also allows the bus to be transported anywhere in the city, as long as there are enough stops to charge the battery. Moreover, because of the power source used in the hydro power, the whole process of operation does not emit CO 2 .
Currently, the ABB Group is coordinating the TGP, the Office of Industry and Technology Promotion and the city's SIG water, natural gas and SIG supply companies to implement the pilot project. The TOSA system incorporates an energy storage brake system that will be tested on a 135-seat bus that runs the route from Geneva Airport to the PalExpo Exhibition & Convention Center.
