She and her neighbors decided to evacuate that night without bringing two sheep dogs Tad and Sophie, who were looking after the sheep of 90 cows.

"We cannot do otherwise. At that time we had to leave immediately , " Landry said. She decided to leave 16kg of dog food and hoped they would overcome this difficult situation.

On July 7, British Columbia declared a state of emergency. This is the worst wildfire season in the province. From April 1, more than 1,100 fires destroyed more than a million hectares of forest, causing losses of about $ 295 million. More than 45,000 people have been evacuated since early July.

20 days later, Landry could return home to the small town of 100 Mile House. When they returned, they found the neighbor's house destroyed. Several helicopters were still gliding over their heads, trying to stamp out small fires. However, Tad and Sophie remained steadfastly guarded between sheep.

"Two dogs not only protect sheep from fire but also protect them from bears and wolves. The sheep will not be able to survive without dogs," Landry said. She just lost an old female sheep.

She rewarded two beef dogs and caresses. The story of Tad and Sophie 's courage quickly spread and the two dogs were praised as heroes."Luckily, fame doesn't ruin them," said Landry funny.
