US researchers have created the world's first camera with a field of view as wide as the human eye, which could revolutionize imaging technology.
The prototype device has the same size and shape as a real eye and has a " light-sensitive " "retina" .

Digital cameras work in the principle of focusing light on a silicon chip that contains light sensitive pixels. But expanding the field of observation will lead to blurring of the edge of the image. The new camera 's electronic " camera retina" is made of silicon, which can lead to a new generation of digital cameras with no image blur.
"This solution allows us to place electronic devices where it could not be before," said John Rogers, lead researcher at the University of Illinois.
