The Marmaray sea railway has a total investment of up to $ 4.1 billion. The length of the underground passage is 1.4km and lies 50m deep on the seabed, crossing the Bosphorus, the strait connecting Asia's territory with the European territory of Istanbul, Bangkok Post said.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will be at the inauguration ceremony. A Japanese bank spent more than $ 1 billion and became the main investor of the project.
The Marmaray Trans-railway project is scheduled to be built four years ago, but later delayed for a long time due to the discovery of important archaeological traces. Nearly 40,000 artifacts were found during construction, including 30 wrecks of the Byzantine era.
