The first Vietnamese was honored with the ASEAN Biodiversity Hero

Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh is one of 10 people receiving the title of ASEAN Biodiversity Hero.

Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh was born in 1933 in Quang Nam, currently Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection (VACNE).

With many contributions to ASEAN biodiversity through activities and initiatives that contribute to the country's socio-economic development, he became the first Vietnamese to honor the British title. ASEAN biodiversity hero on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of regional establishment, held in Manila (Philippines) on August 8.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, Chairman of VACNE, said that Professor Huynh is not only a leading expert on biodiversity and environmental resources but also a prestigious leader of the national scientific research agency. nature and environment. More than 60 years of research, Professor Huynh left many valuable works, of which 154 projects were published in prestigious domestic and foreign scientific journals; 14 monographs on animals, ecology, biodiversity and environmental conservation.

He was awarded nearly 20 medals and medals of all kinds; including two Ho Chi Minh awards - Vietnam's highest award for science and technology. He also received many environmental awards in Vietnam; Merit for outstanding achievements in biodiversity conservation activities.
