World biodiversity hot spots: ASEAN
The rapid decline and disappearance of many plant and animal species as well as environmental products and services are making ASEAN the world's hotspot for biodiversity.
That is the affirmation of Mr. Bui Cach Tuyen, General Director of the Environment Department at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN exhibition on biodiversity taking place on the afternoon of August 3.

In his statement, Bui Cach Tuyen said that ASEAN is one of the regions with the most natural resources in the world and a large proportion of people in the region are dependent on these resources.
However, in recent years over-exploitation of natural resources has become a common problem in ASEAN, leading to resource degradation and loss of serious biodiversity.
In this context, the ASEAN Exhibition on Biodiversity is an initiative of Vietnam to raise public awareness about biodiversity, climate change and its impacts on biodiversity in the community. ASEAN countries.

In the framework of the 21st ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Environment (ASOEN), the proposal and organization of Vietnam's biodiversity exhibition have shown Vietnam's initiative and creativity in the ASEAN integration process in general and ASEAN integration in the environment in particular.This is also the activity towards the International Year of Biodiversity with the theme: 'Biodiversity is life. Biodiversity is our life ' .
With nearly 30 booths displayed in a rich and lively way, this exhibition will contribute to affirm the value and role of biodiversity in life, thereby raising awareness of the Vietnamese community in particular. and ASEAN in general about biodiversity and climate change.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity for Vietnam and ASEAN countries to introduce the promotion of resources in their rich living organisms, opening up opportunities for cooperation in biodiversity conservation in the middle of the country. area.
