The five-year-old fossil mammoth fossil weighs 10 tons in Mexico
Road diggers in the city of Tultepec, Mexico, made the country's archaeologists happy when they found a giant mammoth skeleton.
The giant mammoth is said to be nearly 5 meters tall and estimated to weigh 10 tons. Fossils are found when workers dig plumbing on the outskirts of Tultepec city.
The elephant died at the age of 20 to 25 and died of being stuck in the mud.
Experts estimate the elephant died 12,000 to 14,000 years ago, the Telegraph reported. The mammoth relocation work has been carried out since April and now, almost all mammoth fossils have arrived at the new location. This process takes a lot of time because only a small error is needed, the skeleton over 10,000 years old will be broken.
Mexican biologists also found ribs, shin bones, vertebrae. Fossil specialist Luis Cordoba Barradas said: "The mammoth skeleton has been broken down for ease of transportation." Luis thinks the elephant died between the ages of 20 and 25 and died of being stuck in the mud.
According to Luis, archaeologists from the Mexican Institute of History and Anthropology said at least 50 mammoth fossil skeletons were found in Mexico City.
