While many cities in China face serious and even fatal floods in the past few months, at Forbidden City, people can function normally in the middle of the disaster thanks to the 600-year-old sewer system.

Built during the Ming Dynasty, Tu Cam Thanh brought traditional architecture "North high and low South" to prevent flooding.

Outside each section are a number of sculpted drainage pipes shaped like dragon heads. When it rains, the water flowing out creates a spectacular view of "thousands of water-spraying dragons".
