According to RT, many years of observations from the Hubble Space Telescope show that the Andromeda galaxy is flying towards the galaxy containing the Earth (Milky Way) at a speed of 400,000 km / h. The time for Andromeda to reach the Milky Way is 4 billion years and the time for the merger to complete is 6 billion years from the present time.

"The Andromeda galaxy is rushing towards us. The two galaxies will collide and merge, forming a new super galaxy," said Roeland van der Marel, an astronomer at the Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, USA. , the study author said.

The new galaxy will certainly have an oval shape instead of a circular swirl like the Milky Way.This newly formed super galaxy will also change the night sky from the Earth. However, the possibility of the Sun and Earth colliding with stars or planets from Andromeda is very small because of the large gaps in the two galaxies.

Earth could easily exist in this galaxy merger. Even at that speed, the event will last for about two billion years. The Milky Way and Andromeda have similar sizes and dates (10 billion years). Sometimes, they are considered pairs of twin galaxies and it is difficult to determine which galaxies will be more negatively affected by the collision.

After the collision ended, the Sun remained active for another two billion years. But at that time, it would become so big and so hot that humans could not live on Earth without superior technologies.
