The spherical iron structure is being erected above the Chenab line to connect the two mountainous areas, Jammu and Kashmir.
Expected, the bridge will be 359m high when completely, breaking the current record of the bridge over the Beipanjiang River in Guizhou Province (China) with an altitude of 275m.
'The design is guaranteed for the bridge to withstand seismic and seismic activity , ' AFP quoted an Indian Transport Ministry official as saying.
The bridge was started in 2002 but due to safety and feasibility issues, including strong wind factor in the area, the project was postponed in 2008 before resuming operation. in 2010.
Construction cost is estimated at about 92 million USD.
The bridge has a length of 1,315m, is expected to consume up to 25,000 tons of steel, allowing to shorten nearly half the time of moving from Baramulla to Jammu, only 6 1/2 hours.
