The rescue team spotted the bodies of three mountain climbers Pico de Orizaba , Mexico's highest mountain in Veracruz and Puebla state, 5,610 meters from sea level, Sun yesterday reported. According to the local media, the mummies were first identified on March 1, 2015, but all attempts to bring the body back were unsuccessful.

"We are very pleased to complete our mission," said Jose Luis Pablo, commander of the 303 squadron, who is in charge of the rescue team. The harsh weather conditions made it difficult for helicopters to transport bodies near the summit. But the rescue team succeeded on the second try on the same day.

Luis Espinosa , an 81-year-old climber, confirmed that the body belonged to his three mountaineers who were buried due to snowslides during the 1959 expedition. Espinosa said he recognized a member's shirt and ring among the objects found.

According to Luis Espinosa, the body was discovered by Enrique Garcia Romero, Juan Espinosa Camargo and Manuel Campos Reyes . Authorities will conduct DNA tests to confirm the identity of the dead. Probably, dry cold conditions prevent bacteria, active mold and chemical processes from decomposing human tissue, contributing to perfect preservation of the victim's body and turning them into mummies.
