Tomato plants belonging to Gigantomo are about 1.8 meters tall and produce 9 to 11 large fruits. The size of the tomatoes can be up to about 25cm and weigh nearly 1.5kg, equivalent to the size of 12 normal tomatoes, enough for the needs of 4 people.
"Simply put, Gigantomo is the world's largest tomato market," said Daily Mail, quoted by Simon Crawford, one of the UK's leading plant breeding experts.
According to Mirror, Gigantomo is the result of 20 years of British and American breeders. Crawford was the perfect man for Paul Thomas when the American expert died five years ago. Thomas spent 15 years to create tomato plants with large size and delicious taste.
The world's largest tomato variety began to be sold in the United States from last year and in the UK earlier this year.
