The most abundant mineral of Earth, silicate-perovskite has recently been officially named bridgmanite.
Although rarely discovered and deep in the ground, the silicate-perovskite compound is always the most abundant mineral of the Earth.

Recently discovered by scientists, the silicate-perovskite was previously named after its chemical composition and crystal structure, but it eventually got the official name of bridgmanite .
Bridgmanite is almost invisible, because it is located deep in the mantle. However, it was not until recently that experts first observed this mineral, located in the rocks of a 4.5-billion-year-old meteorite that fell into Australian territory in 1879.
'This is really a discovery that makes people extremely excited. Finally, we found bridgmanite in nature after 5 years of meteorite research ' , according to Phys.Org quoted Chi Ma expert of California Institute of Technology, USA.
Chi Ma and his colleague Oliver Tschauner of the University of Nevada (USA) have cooperated to identify and name the mineral.
Its official name has been approved by the International Minerals Association.
