The mystery of women's intuition

Women's intuition - the ability to recognize what others are thinking and feeling - has long been a mystery to the scientific world. However, a new study claims to have deciphered this phenomenon.

An international team of scientists, led by experts from the University of Granada (Spain), conducted research to see why women seem to have better intuition and less reaction. into thinking reflects more than men. They discovered that this phenomenon may be in part due to biological characteristics and are associated with little testosterone exposure in the fetus.

Scientists describe intuition as thoughts that are handled unconsciously and automatically, requiring very little cognitive effort. Meanwhile, reflection thinking requires conscious analysis and requires more effort. Intuitive thinking is considered more emotional, while analytical thoughts are more rational.

According to the Medical Xpress site, previous studies have shown that exposure to testosterone before birth affects human brain development and that men are more adventurous than women because of them. getting higher levels of testosterone during pregnancy.

In the new study, scientists have conducted trials for 600 students at the University of Granada to confirm whether men are less intuitive than women. First of all, they measure "finger ratios" - a sign that a person's testosterone levels are born, by dividing the length of the index finger for the length of the ring finger on the same hand.

The results showed that the lower the ratio of fingers, the higher the amount of testosterone the object received and therefore, the more "masculine" the brain tendency regardless of the owner's gender. On average, men have lower rates than women.

The students then participated in a cognitive reflection test (CRT), consisting of 3 simple algebra questions to measure the contrast between intuitive thinking and reflection thinking . The test is designed so that people choose a more sentimental, incorrect answer, but if they think carefully (reflection process), they often find the right answer.

The team eventually found that women tend to give more intuitive answers, while men choose to reflect more reflective thinking. In other words, in the form of special tests that are difficult to intuitively think, men generally get better results than women. The experiment also revealed that women had lower finger indexes, answering questions exactly like men.
