The nasal spray vaccine for bird flu

The US has tested three new live H5N1 virus vaccines but has weakened it. This new vaccine is used by nasal spray. Therefore, they are convenient to use. This is the result of research by US scientists and MedImmune Inc.

During mouse testing, US scientists sprayed these three vaccines into the noses of mice. They then exposed them directly to the H5N1 virus.

As a result, all of these mice remained healthy and able to resist this virus.

In June 2006, these three vaccines were also tested on volunteer Americans.

Unlike other vaccines, these three new vaccines use only one dose with a nasal spray.

Scientists believe that by this method the vaccine will stimulate the immune system faster and more effectively. This new vaccine can be a timely, quick and effective way to deal with bird flu.

In addition, these three new vaccines also have the ability to block some strains of the virus like influenza viruses.

In a paper published in the Journal of the Public Library of Science (Medicine), scientists reported that three new vaccines from the H5N1 virus have been studied but weakened.

Since 1997, 244 countries have been infected with H5N1, of which 143 have died. According to US scientists, these three vaccines are being considered as storage vaccines to prevent pandemics.
