The new asteroid is named after the girl who received the Nobel Peace Prize
Scientists named Malala Yousafzai, the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, to name an asteroid.
Name the new asteroid
The new asteroid, fully named 316201 Malala (2010 ML48) , is located in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter. 316201 Malala is about 4 meters wide, orbiting the Sun's orbit with a cycle of 5.5 years. Astronomers discovered it on June 23, 2010.

Dr. Amy Mainzer, an expert at the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), said that among many asteroids, some are named for those who have a certain contribution or contribution of women.
"Dr. Carrie Nugent and I have read the story of Malala and think that if someone deserves to name an asteroid, it is that girl" , Independent quoted Mainzer as saying. Mainzer hopes that this name will remind young people that science and technology are for everyone.
Malala Yousafzai was Pakistani, born in 1997, the Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2014. She was seriously injured by the Taliban in October 2012 because of the struggle for the rights of girls to attend school.
