Warning of flash floods in mountainous areas and urban flooding
At the meeting, Mr. Hoang Duc Cuong - Director of the Central Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting - said that in 12 hours through the rain in the Northeast region has decreased. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Van Thang, Vice Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development - proposed to implement a 100% duty regime with dam reservoirs up to 70%; strengthening local responsibilities, closely monitoring areas at risk of flooding and landslides.
Mr. Thang expressed concern about landslide in Quang Ninh will continue to occur, especially landslides of coal dumps and recommends to invite specialized agencies to re-evaluate the situation of these areas.
Concluding the conference, Minister Cao Duc Phat said that not only Vietnam but also many international meteorological agencies also forecast heavy rains in the Northern region in the coming days.
Mr. Phat suggested Quang Ninh and other localities have had heavy rain over the past time to overcome the consequences, soon so that the lives of people go into stability and seek lost fishermen at sea.
