The ozone layer of the Earth is recovering
The Earth's ozone layer is slowly recovering from international efforts in the last 20 years.
However, by the end of the century, the ozone layer still seemed to not be as stable as it was before 1980 due to natural changes and human activities.
According to researchers at the University of Colorado (USA), the restoration of this ozone layer is the result of the 1987 Montreal Protocol on prohibiting chlorofluorocarbon pollution (CFCs).
CFCs have been widely used in refrigeration, air conditioning . until the 1980s, when scientists discovered they could decompose the ozone layer to protect the Earth from ultraviolet rays.
To date, more than 180 countries have ratified the Montreal Protocol. This decree establishes legally binding control measures for countries that produce and consume CFCs.
However, scientists warn, the process of restoring the ozone layer still faces some other changes. ' In the next few years, the ozone level in the Arctic is still strongly influenced by the stratosphere temperature, which may slow the recovery of the ozone layer . "
