The rain poured hundreds of fish into Indian town

The phenomenon of fish rains occurs after a strong whirlwind moving through shallow water, sucking fish up, taking it and dumping it in Amalapuram town.

A teacher recorded the scene of fish rain in the Indian town of Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, on the afternoon of December 17, according to Newsflare. In the video, a series of fish were scattered on the ground, many of them kept flailing themselves. They are called Gidasalu, a delicious fish popular in the region.

Strange phenomenon makes witnesses feel surprised. " More than 200 fish fell near a local public school. Many people ran there to witness the rare phenomenon and pick up fish for food," said Narasimha Reddy, a local resident.

Fish rains are meteorological events that occur when strong vortex winds move through shallow water, develop water cannons and suck up small objects in the water. Some small animals such as fish or frogs can also be swept up, carried away and then dropped to the ground with rainwater.

The fish rain in Amalapuram is most likely caused by the Phethai storm. On December 17, the storm hit India at a wind speed of about 80km / h and caused many flights to be canceled.
