The robot can capture objects at high speeds
Researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) have launched a robotic arm with three joints and four fingers capable of capturing objects in the air. This arm will automatically detect the trajectory and shape of the abnormal object to determine its capture, moving from immobilized to capturing subjects in less than 5/100 seconds.
This intelligent system was designed with a special algorithm, where researchers trained it with a ball, a hollow glass, half full glass, a hammer and a tennis racket. "A growing presence in our lives and doing different jobs, robots will soon be able to catch or dodge complex objects moving completely ".
The team has an idea from this project with specific applications: Attach your arms to the satellites to capture the space debris.
