A meteorologist thinks that certain terrain features block some of the sunlight, creating an impressive landscape.

Photographer Terri Knox captured breathtaking views of the sun setting in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, on March 19, Global News reported. Knox confirmed that this "double-split sunset" photo was not edited.

In the picture, the sun fades away from the mountains far away, splashing bright red light. However, the rising light seemed to be stopped in the sky. The sky looked like it was split into two halves, one was still gray and the other was red.

Locals are extremely excited to observe this scene, photographer Knox said. The splitting phenomenon is most likely due to a certain terrain feature that partially blocked the rays of the sun, meteorologist Kristi Gordon said.
