The smart room recognizes speech and emotions

SGI of Japan has introduced a new ' room ' system called RoomRender, based mainly on speech recognition. This system controls most electronic appliances (including video recorders) and operates according to user voice commands.

RoomRender's unique feature is the ability to identify people in the room by analyzing the voice of the voice. The room consists of a wall that can vary in color depending on the temperament of those in the room. RoomRender also has an odor-adjusting machine that is adaptable to the ' mental state '.

This emotional recognition system is not something completely new or unique. Both SGI and Nec have used the technique to create Kotohana artificial flowers with colors that change according to the voice.

The system also has a rival, Shoji, which can create air in a room by changing the light (not depending on the voice, depending on the movements, heat or humidity). This is also the purpose of many studies at the Philips company around ambient lighting.

To own a RoomRender, you have to spend between 5 and 6 million yen (30 to 40,000 euros). SGI is not only targeting the private market but is hoping to equip the system for meeting rooms in companies, hotels or hospitals.
