The temperature in the 48 states of the US is higher than the average
The US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on July 9 said that hot temperatures in the second half of June have set a new record for heat in the first six months in the US.
According to NOAA, in June, temperatures in the 48 states of the United States were 1.1 degrees Celsius higher than the average temperature in the 20th century. There were times when temperatures in the states of South Carolina and Georgia reached up. 45 degrees C and 44 degrees C.
In addition, the past 12 months have also become the hottest months since 1895 to date. During the period from 6/2011 to 6/2012, in all US states, except Washington state, recorded a higher than average temperature.
The recent heat wave in the country has seriously threatened grain harvests in the Midwestern states, causing forest fires, seriously affecting people's lives.
According to Jake Crouch, a scientist from the US National Climate Data Center, such heat waves are in line with the long-term warming trend in those 48 states.
Climate change due to carbon dioxide emissions may not be the main cause of the record heat wave, however, such extreme weather conditions are suitable for what scientists do. considered "a new normal".
