The third mysterious crater in Siberia

Locals in Siberia, Russia, discovered the third mysterious crater in this area, behind two large craters found not long ago.

According to the Siberian Times, the third crater was discovered on the Taymyr Peninsula, east of the Yamal Peninsula, in the Kransoyark region. It has a diameter of more than 4 m, smaller than the two previously discovered craters and a depth of about 60-100m.

Cattle breeders accidentally spotted the crater lying on the road and nearly fell down. It has a funnel-shaped structure and no known cause of formation. They took pictures and sent them to local research organizations.

Geological experts, ecologists and historical researchers have not yet reached a conclusion about the origin of this structure."It's not like the result of man-made activity, but it's not the same as the natural structure," said an expert.

Previously, two large craters were discovered on the Yamal Peninsula. The area found the crater to be a deserted tundra, also known as the "end of the world" . The cause of crater formation has not been clarified. The assumptions are made regarding the impact of meteorites, unidentified flying objects or a gas explosion.

Another hypothesis is that craters formed after geological activity are related to global warming. It was originally a rich natural gas area, covered under the sea 10,000 years ago. Global warming causes ice to melt, release gas, causing water, salt and gas "mixtures" to explode underground, forming giant craters. Scientists will continue to study to draw conclusions.
