According to Ancient Origins, Pythagoras's cup at first looks like normal cups or cups. But it is actually a cleverly arranged device that controls the amount of liquid inside.

Some others speculate that this device is to teach people a lesson about greed.

According to Greek legend, philosopher Pythagoras invented this special cup to monitor a group of workers constructing a water supply project on Samos Island.

Accordingly, the cup has a Siphon tube (exhaust pipe) with an u-shape upside down, cleverly concealed in the middle. The outside catheter is placed on the bottom of the cup.

When liquid or alcohol stops at a certain limit, nothing happens. Conversely, if the liquid spills over the limit line, it will be pushed back through the Siphon tube and drained out.

For thousands of years, Pythagoras's cup story still carries a profound lesson, helping people to live in moderation and refrain from greed.

Today, Pythagoras cup mechanism is also applied to water-based devices that are placed in toilets or bathrooms. Water will automatically drain in the sink when exceeding the limit.
