The tunnel under the pyramid reveals the mystery of the Mayan spirit of the Maya
A tunnel is said to lead to the cave where the Mayan god Kukulkan is hiding.
Around the beginning of the 16th century, the invaders from Spain were the ones who discovered Kukulkan temple in Mexico's Chichen Itza ruins. It is a pyramid owned by ancient Mayans, which hides mysteries no one has answered.

And recently, another mystery at Kukulkan was revealed. Experts have found a secret tunnel inside the pyramid, believed to lead to a groundwater cave (also known as cenote) - where the Mayans performed.
With this discovery, archaeologists believe that the mystery of Mayan beliefs will be revealed, because this underground water cave they only know about, never came here.
In particular, experts from the Great Mayan Aquifer project led by archaeologist Guillermo de Anda used the most advanced video recording technology. They used a type of ground-based radar, sending electromagnetic signals through the walls and dense architectural structures in the pyramid, then drawing the map of the entire ruins through feedback signals.

As a result, they found a road through a smaller crypt called Ossuary , although the passage was now blocked.
"Through Ossuary, we can enter a structure underneath, and there is a sealed tunnel - probably done by the ancient Mayans," said Dr. de Anda.
"We will find an approach again, and try to open this path to see if it will lead us to the cenote underground cave below."
The tunnel was sealed.
It is known that Kukulkan was built around 900 - 1,100 - this is a thousand-year-old monument. The name Kukulkan is in fact the name of the Mayan god, in the form of a giant feathered snake. Kukulkan grows in the cave, and will appear with an earthquake.
In 2015 scientists found a huge sinkhole under the temple. At that time, they feared that the hole would lead up the water (because of an underground river below), thereby causing the entire pyramid structure to collapse.

The cenote underground cave is said to connect with many other sinking holes to the North, West and East of the pyramid. In particular, the pit is located just below the pyramid with the size of about 25 - 35m, and deep to 20m.
Above the cenote cave, there is a layer of 5m thick limestone, and is currently playing a foundation for the pyramid.
