However, US websites contain only about 25% of the malicious code. Sometimes they are only used to spread malicious code stored elsewhere. Meanwhile, websites originating from China store up to 34% of malicious code.

" We think the main reason for this situation is financial motivation, " said Todd Bransford, vice president of marketing for Cyveillance. ' Cybercriminals want to reach the American people's PC to steal their financial information. That's why they often add malicious code to websites that Americans often visit . '

Often these are malicious codes that can steal personal identifiable information. 50% of these websites are stored directly on US web servers.

" The number of web attacks has doubled in the second quarter of this year, compared to the first quarter ," Bransford said. In particular, the number of phishing attacks has clearly increased by more than 20%.
