The vaccine kills itself in the body

A vaccine that creeps into the body and then destroys itself can open new avenues for prevention of diseases.

The new needleless vaccine is made by modifying Salmonella so that it carries an antigen - the protein may be recognized and attacked by the immune system - of Streptococcus pneumonia, the agent cause pneumonia.

Small test of vaccine into the mouth of mice shows that they protect animals from pneumonia. When entering mice, Salmonella carries the antimicrobial antigen into cells.

Once the 'mission' is completed, Salmonella will self-destruct so it cannot harm the body. The reason is that previously, people have weakened Salmonella so it cannot prolong long life outside the laboratory environment.

According to Arizona State University experts, the method of developing this self-destructive vaccine can be used to prevent many strains of viruses, fungi and parasites.
