According to Professor Lulu Skidmore - the center director, the camel is a hump named Injaz (Arabic for achievement) cloned from a 2005 camel.

Its birth is the result of many years of research, and is a significant breakthrough in the program to preserve the precious gene pool of camel-like milk and run the center's technology.

People use DNA extracted from the cells of the slaughtered camel's ovary and transplanted into a camel's egg to form a cloned embryo.

Embryos were kept for 7 days in the laboratory before being transplanted back into the uterus of the camel. After 12 months, camels were born.
