The 7-hour removal surgery took place at Nair Hospital, west of Mumbai, on February 14. Many days after surgery, news was published because until now, doctors were not sure the surgery was successful, according to the BBC.
"It's just waiting for the patient to recover, and he's already in danger," said Dr. Trimurti Nadkarni, chief surgical officer. According to him, the brain tumor weighed 1.8 kg from the beginning of the patient may be the largest tumor in the world .
The patient is Santlal Pal, 31, who owns a shop in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in the north of the country. He lived with the tumor for three years before surgery. Pal's wife said they had gone to three hospitals in Uttar Pradesh to examine and doctors concluded that it was impossible to remove the tumor. The doctor said Pal lost sight because of the tumor but hoped he would look back after the surgery.
"These surgeries are extremely dangerous," Dr. Nadkarni said. Mr. Pal had to transmit 11 blood units and breathe oxygen several days later.
