The world's largest lion species was eradicated by the ancient people
Cave lions, the largest lion species that ever lived on Earth, may fall into extinction due to human hunting by the skin during the Stone Age.
New research by Spanish scientists indicates humans may be the cause of the extinction of cave lions (Panthera leo spelaea) , according to Independent. Cave lions are scary prehistoric creatures, which can be up to 3.5 meters long, but extinct some 10,000 years ago.

In a report published yesterday in the journal PLOS One, the team led by Marián Cueto of the University of Cantabria analyzed nine pieces of fossilized lion toe bones found in caves in La Garma province north of Spain. Home They found that most bone samples showed signs of bearing the impact of stone tools. Stone Age hunters may have used the tool to skin the animal but still keep the foundation attached to the fur.
According to Cueto, all nine pieces of toe bones belong to the same cave lion."The lion may have been skinned and hairy to cover some cave floor or texture. The location of the cuts and scrap marks allows us to deduce this process by experienced and knowledgeable people. Caesarean section is done, " Cueto said.

The early Stone Age figures in La Garma cave describe lions in a prominent position, showing the importance of this animal in human life. The myth of this dangerous prey may be evidence of the habit of hunting and skinning the lion of the ancient people, Cueto said.
