The Wright brothers' first flights

The Wright brothers, including Orville and Wilbur, have pioneered the creation of a flying machine that we call airplanes. More than 100 years ago, Orville and his brother Wilbur worked diligently on research, experimentation, and risk to create a landmark product for human history. The plane helps people to move farther and faster, the world seems to shorten. Here are some historical photos of the Wright Brothers' first days and flights.

Wilbur Wright drove a large glider down the Big Kill Devil Hill hillside, in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, 10/10/1902.This roller coaster model is the third generation of Wright Brothers' glider versions, with a pullable wing for steering, a vertical steering wheel on the back, and a high-altitude rudder at front.

Wright Flyer I aircraft, assembled in 1903, viewed from the front. This is the Wright Brothers' first motorized aircraft. The aircraft has 2 propellers with a diameter of nearly 2.5m driven by a dedicated engine of 12 horsepower.

The aircraft was edited in 1905, with the driver's seat and another seat for the other, on the way to take off in Dill Devil Hills, 1908.

US military arrived at the scene of a plane crash to rescue pilot Orville Wright and passengers, September 17, 1908.The plane crashed during a flight to perform at a military base, when the lack of Selfridge was injured and died, it was also the first fatal accident with a military aircraft.Orville still lived but broke his left leg and 4 ribs.

Wilbur Wright made a 33-minute flight during the Hudson-Fulton Celebration in New York, 1909. Wright took off from Govenors Island, flew over Hudson River to Grant's mausoleum and turned around, witnessed by hundreds of thousands New Yorkers.
