There is going to be a meteor shower of Thien Long and Ghe Ho

In October, astronomers love the opportunity to enjoy an interesting "party" of meteor shower - remnants of comets.

Thien Long meteor shower (Draconid) will take place from Saturday 6 October and maximum on Monday night, October 8. This is a small meteor shower with a frequency of 10 meteors per hour at the peak. The Thien Long meteor originated from dust remnants left by comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner , discovered in 1900.

According to astronomers, with this meteor shower the best observation time is at the beginning of the evening instead of at dawn like other meteor showers. In Vietnam this is also a good time because no moonlight affects the observation.

The shooting star appeared from the constellation of Draco (Thien Long), so it was necessary to choose a dark, airy area to observe.

The Orionid meteor shower (Orionid) is more noticeable with an average frequency of 20 meteors per hour at the peak. This year the Gazebo meteor shower took place at its peak on Sunday night October 21, the morning of the 22nd.

The Gazebo meteorites originated from dust remnants left by Halley comet, discovered since ancient times. The best observation time is after midnight in a dark, airy area. The meteor appears from the constellation of Orion, also known as the Hunter (Orion).

Mr. Tran Cong Vien, Chairman of Danang Astronomy Club, said that the club did not organize observations but this is an opportunity for young astronomers to experience the interesting meteor shower.
