Thu Duc University Village: Sinking in smoke

Located in the contiguous area between Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, Thu Duc university village, which is home to and studying of nearly 20,000 students, is seriously polluted by establishments, especially smoke and siege. attack '.

So far, no solutions have been offered to return the atmosphere to the university village.

Huge columns of smoke

Large smoke rose behind the A4 block of the National University of the University and covered a block. These smoke stems from piles of garbage that people burn arbitrarily around and from nearby brick kilns.

The area from Tan Lap hamlet to Hiep Thang hamlet (Di An, Binh Duong), not far from the university village is a place where dozens of large and small brick kilns operate. The dust and the heat from the brick kilns are discharged directly into the air. Again, the terrain was empty, so the smoke quickly anchored to the wind.

More unexpectedly, close to the slopes of the University of National University - the current residence of 7,000 students, a production facility (without a sign of the sea) is carefully fenced with corrugated iron sheets, continuously discharging white smoke. toward the Assembly Hall of the National University of Dormitory. Students living here travel in the cloudy fog like smoke, the smell is burning.

Right in front of the National University building (the Bridge of the Cross) is a village doing scrap trading and a huge scrap yard.

Every day, every 21 hours, the smoke from burning waste from these households began to enter the atmosphere. If there is no bright light from the Overpass Bridge, people are easily mistaken to think that these are clouds.

The rock lake area (Tan Hoa hamlet, Dong Hoa district, Di An, Binh Duong) is a huge landfill located in the middle of the residential area, at the foot of high-voltage electric poles.

Every day, the smoke from this landfill covers a large space, making the forest nearby and surrounding households flooded with a cloudy fog.

According to the data of Ho Chi Minh City Air Quality Monitoring Station, ozone concentration (O 3 ) in Thu Duc District exceeds the standard by 3-5 times. In the dry season, dust content in Thu Duc district can exceed the standard from 1.1 -1.22 times.

The incineration of waste arbitrarily produces a type of ash with a very high content of heavy metals such as lead, arsenic (arsenic), cadmium (cadmium) which pollutes the land for many generations, greatly affecting life and the health of people in the area.

People here said that this landfill has existed for a long time, garbage is mainly brought from other places and burned daily. According to the writers' observation, the burned garbage is mainly cloth, rubber, rubber .

Blind dust

Thu Duc University Village is located right next to Hanoi Highway and the South Korean Highway with millions of vehicles circulating every day. Therefore, the level of noise pollution and emissions from the village motor vehicles suffered is huge.

According to statistics of Le Trinh and Le Quoc Hung in the book ' Environment in Dong Nai river basin - Saigon ', dust content on Hanoi highway is 3 to 5 times higher than Vietnamese standards.

In addition, placing here a bus station to facilitate students 'travel brings environmental pollution from these vehicles' emissions.

Opposite the bus station is a truck parking lot with dozens of big oversized cars, daily with buses circulating on the already narrow roads of the university village and students and people living on both sides of the road. just closed his eyes, covered his mouth and nose in the blind dust.
