Top 10 extremely rare cars of the king of Brunei, so rare that only a few photos exist
With abundant oil reserves despite the country's small size, Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is still one of the richest people on the planet. With a fortune that sometimes reaches nearly 30 billion USD, the ministry The king's car collection is equally impressive.
Most of his cars were bought between the 1990s and 2000s, with the brands that the Sultan loved so much: Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, BMW and Aston Martin, with an estimated total value of up to hundreds of millions of dollars.
Extremely rare cars of the Sultan of Brunei
Even many of them are special editions, created just for the Sultan. They are manufactured in secret, without the media's knowledge, and then transported directly to Brunei and stored in the Sultan's car collection. Only very few guests of the Sultan have ever seen one-of-a-kind cars, and because of that, sometimes the only thing that describes their existence is the hurried photographs taken by reporters.
1. Bentley Dominator
If for ordinary people, Bentley's first SUV was the Bentayga launched in 2015, but not for the Sultan of Brunei. Six Dominators were ordered by the Bruneian royal family a decade ago for the Sultan and his family, for $4.6 million each. Because it is not public, the public and car enthusiasts know very little about car engine parameters. Just know one thing, the Bentley Dominator at that time was heavily influenced by the Range Rovers of the same time, but that did not make the fans specifically identify the engine block inside as Bentley's 6.7L V8, or 3.9L V8 by Range Rovers.
2. Ferrari F50 Bolide
Rare Ferraris are often mentioned in the press, but the F50 Bolide is so rare that only a few photos prove its existence. The F50 was already in short supply, only producing 349 units, and the Sultan even wanted a unique car based on Ferrari's most powerful car of the time. So instead of using the chassis of a standard F50, Ferrari created the Bolide based on the chassis of a formula 1 car. It possesses just enough features for the driver to be allowed to operate on the street, inside the carbon fiber car shell and the 12-cylinder engine block. Aside from those details, almost nothing is known about the F50 Bolide, not even its existence.
3. BMW Nazca M12
Initially, the Nazca M12 was an experimental design concept model of BMW, and is said to be the successor of the M1 supercar, equipped with the same V12 engine block as the 850i models of the time, 300 horsepower. Although the Nazca prototype is still owned and managed by BMW, in the past it was reported that the king of Brunei spent a large amount of money to hire Italdesign to make him an identical copy.
4. Aston Martin AM3
An exotic Aston Martin car, with a body designed by Pininfarina, creating a very different style from the British automaker's contemporaries. It was developed based on the Vantage, powered by a 5.3L V8 engine. Not a single AM3 has appeared on the street, the pictures were only taken at Pininfarina's factory in Turin, Italy. The Sultan Brunei's AM3 itself has never been on the street.
5. Bentley Buccaneer
This is probably one of the cars that the Sultan of Brunei loves the most, as it has been driven on the street a few times. Like every other rare and hard-to-find car of the king, very little is known about the car's specifications, only speculation that it may be equipped with the same engine as the Continental R model of the time. There are 6 black, silver and red Buccaneers produced by Bentley, and all 6 are owned by the Bruneian royal family.
6. Leblanc Mirabeau
Swiss car company Leblanc almost became a giant in the supercar industry, until a failed launch in the US caused the company to run out of money and gradually sink into oblivion. Of course that happened after Leblanc sold a few supercar models named Mirabeau to the Sultan of Brunei. It was recently confirmed that the Mirabeau shares a V8 engine with the Koenigsegg CCR, a vehicle with both greater popularity and financial success than the Mirabeau. However, the people of Brunei have never seen such a vehicle on the road.
7. Ferrari Testarossa F90 Speciale
Six Testarossa F90 Speciale were produced in 1988, based on one of the most prominent supercar models of the 80s, but it was not until 18 years later that Ferrari confirmed their existence. The bodywork is still Pininfarina in charge, and they follow the requirements of the Sultan of Brunei, while inside is still a 12-cylinder engine block with a 180-degree angle, generating 390 horsepower.
8. Bentley Java
Like the Nazca M12, the Java is a Bentley concept as the British automaker tries to find design lines to help their cars match the aesthetic tastes of new customers. Bentley created a concept and has no intention of mass production, but the Sultan of Brunei thinks otherwise. Bentley never turned down the king, of course, and produced 18 Javas, one for each member of the royal family. Once upon a time, car enthusiasts in Hong Kong had seen a Java in their private collection, but they had never been on the road.
9. Mercedes-Benz S73 T AMG Wagon
And only the Sultan of Brunei could convince Mercedes-Benz to create a crazy car like the S73 T AMG, the wagon version. Inside this car is a 7.3L V12 engine block, which means that this ordinary-looking wagon shares the same engine as a very famous supercar, the Pagani Zonda. Many sources say that AMG is still keeping a prototype S73 T AMG Wagon at their headquarters, but AMG has always denied this information. It takes a lot of luck to get a picture of this extremely rare car.
10. Ferrari FX
Before there were supercars that could only run on the track like the FXX and FXX-K, the FX was one of the supercars that the Sultan of Brunei was most proud of in his collection. Almost the public did not know about the existence of FX, if you are ordering, Mr. Sultan. runs out of money. He initially ordered 7 FX, equipped with the same Flat-12 engine block as the Testarossa but combined with a 7-speed gearbox developed by the Williams BMW Formula 1 racing team, but could only afford to pay for 4. The remaining three were later sold to private collectors, hidden so that no one could see.
