Tra Vinh: Shrimp die massively due to necrotic syndrome

In the face of more serious developments of the

In front of the increasingly serious development of 'tiger shrimp pandemic' in Tra Vinh, causing 100 billion VND damage to farmers, on May 23, Aquaculture Research Institute II cooperated with Department of Agriculture and Development Rural workshop held to announce the cause of disease on shrimp.

The scientists initially concluded that shrimp died of hepatopancreatic necrosis syndrome, in which Cypermethrin was identified as one of the causes of mass mortality of shrimp. In addition, there are still other factors that need to be studied.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Hao, Director of Research Institute for Aquaculture II, through studying the disease situation since 2009, shrimp died of the same disease and currently shrimp farming continues to die due to necrotic disease. Pancreatic liver. Shrimp disease manifestations in Vietnam are the same as Malaysia, China and Thailand. This is not a dangerous disease and the spread of the disease is the fault of the farmer.

Research results of the Research Institute for Aquaculture II also showed that dead shrimp are related to the use of Cypermethrin crustaceans. Crustaceans of Pyrethroid group are one of the causes of pancreatic liver syndrome.

Research results of disease samples in Tran De district (Soc Trang) showed that the hepatopancreas syndrome appeared at the 17th day and 77 days at the latest. The frequency of hepatopancreatic necrosis is highest from 20-45 days. The phenomenon of dead shrimp species continues to occur in the first months of 2012 in the coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta, of which Tra Vinh and Kien Giang are the heaviest.

The Research Institute for Aquaculture II surveyed 19 shrimp samples, 19 water samples in ponds, 5 water samples outside the supply canal and 18 mud samples in the pond in the province. 100% shrimp results showed signs of hepatopancreatic necrosis. Test results of residues of Cypermethrin and Deltamethrin on 24 water samples and 18 mud samples found 9/24 samples with Cypermethrin content, 1/18 samples of Cypermethrin content.

Mr. Huynh Quoc Khoi, Deputy Director of Bac Lieu Agricultural and Fishery Extension Center said that due to the high price of black tiger shrimp, the people did not follow the seasonal schedule and renovate the pond. The agricultural sector recommends that people use Clorin at a high cost, while crustaceans are low-cost.

So farmers need to apply a new technical process, there must be a first settling pond, complete the treatment and put it into the second settling pond, then release the shrimp and have to say no to the use of crustaceans. After stocking shrimp, beating lime hot continuously. Currently in Bac Lieu, there are a number of people applying the new process in the 2012 shrimp crop and are succeeding.
