Treatment of 'edible' cancer cells

Using fat as a Trojan horse, American scientists miraculously removed the cancer of bone, pancreas and colon in miraculous animals.

The new study, conducted by Northwestern University (USA), has approached cancer in a very new way: for example, infected cells "eat" toxic drugs.

They invented a chemotherapy drug belonging to the paclitaxel group , which is a small molecule that attacks tumors in a way that invades cells. In particular, cancer-killing drugs are attached to the two ends of the usual fatty acid chain, which is easily found in plants and animals.

The designed fatty acid chain - which has been attached to the drug - is included in the HSA (Human Serum Albumin) protein , a component of human plasma. It is introduced into the blood, from which fat molecules carry drugs throughout the body and search for cancer cells.

According to Professor - Dr. Nathan Gianneschi, head of the study, for cancer cells, fatty acid chains are a good gift. So they "invited" the chain of fatty acids and didn't know it was the "Trojan horse" of the scientists.

Until they entered the cell, the amount of delicate drugs attached to the chain of new fatty acids worked, they metabolized the cancer cells to be poisoned from inside and died completely.

This new "Trojan horse" drug has demonstrated a higher level of safety than other drugs in the paclitaxel group by up to 17 times in trials, even if it should be used at a higher dose. This means it has little effect on healthy cells.

The study has just been published in the scientific journal Journal of the American Chemical Society.
