Some people have a habit of talking while nursing ornamental plants. However, experts go even further when turning them into TV remote control panels.

At the Digital Entertainment Industry Conference (SIGGRAPH) in Los Angeles (USA), Ivan Poupyrev's team, a veteran scientist at the Disney Research Institute in Pittsburgh, has found new ways to interact with plants.

Called the Botanicus Interacticus , it is not an ordinary touch interface interaction. An electrode connected to a special wire is placed in the potted soil and connected to the computer. Experts claim that such a connection does not harm plants.

This is a technology developed by the Disney Research Institute. Accordingly, the connection system can detect the touch or hand movements performed with any conductive material.

The wires running along the plant use a technique known as "capacitance frequency scanning," which allows the plant to recognize complex movements such as clawing the tree trunk or increasing the pressure. impact.

However, experts recommend, do not fool yourself with the application of Botanicus Interacticus with cactus.
