Twins are born more than 2 years apart

Charlie was born in May 2010 while a twin sister born in October 2012 was born. Both conceived from frozen sperm of his father with testicular cancer.

Both children are wonderful for Richard Norman, 33, who lives in Geddington, near Northampton (England). Richard defeated the cancer and became a father, something he never thought of, according to The Sun.

His wife, 33-year-old Norman, an accountant, said: "My children were born because they were conceived at the same time, although I gave birth more than 2 years apart. They helped their father have the energy to fight fight cancer ".

Richard, the executive director of a printing company, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in August 2007, when he was 26 years old. He had a tumor in his right testicle, and was prescribed antibiotic treatment by a doctor."First we thought it was a benign tumor and the antibiotic would be destroyed, after a few weeks it didn't disappear," he recalls.

He was introduced to Kettering General Hospital for testing and found that it was a large tumor. This is a big shock for the couple. The doctor said that if he wants to have a baby in the coming years, he only has a few days to freeze the sperm, before surgery.

"I want to be a father, even if I have a severe shock and have to fight for survival, I still want to freeze the sperm to get a chance to have a few years later," he recalls.

He sent some frozen sperm samples and surgery to cut the entire testicle to the right. After that, he spent 3 years struggling with illness, losing many months of tired chemotherapy. In July 2009, the couple began in vitro fertilization.

His wife said, the two had only focused on trying to make Richard stronger, so the plan had children delayed until he completed the chemical treatment."He was still sick and diagnosed with another tumor in the lymph nodes, we were still determined to give birth , " she said.

Two people have gone through a process of infertility treatment. Richard's frozen sperm is used to fertilize his wife's eggs. An embryo was inserted into Norman's uterus, and four other embryos continued to be frozen.

Norman was pregnant and gave birth to a healthy son Charlie, weighing 3.5kg in May of the following year at Kettering General Hospital."The moment I was born full of emotion. Richard went through a long battle, and my birth was a help to finally overcome him all , " the young mother confided.

She and her husband decided to try to have a second baby last February. One of their frozen embryos was thawed and put into the womb of the wife."We did not expect to be successful like the first time, but two weeks later I found myself pregnant. It was a miracle , " she said.

Mrs. Norman gave birth to a Georgina daughter, who was well-fed and weighed 3.8kg in October 2012. The twins are a spiritual medicine for Richard, and his illness is relieved.

Dr. Rahnuma Kazem, medical director at CARE Fertility - where fertilization for Norman said, frozen sperm is essential for men who need radiation or chemotherapy to cure cancer."Charlie and Georgina will not be present if their father's sperm is not frozen. The in vitro fertilization cycle gives birth to two babies 3 years apart, which is a great result," he said.
