Two earthquakes repeatedly shook southwestern Japan
This morning (April 20), two earthquakes with an initial magnitude of 6.7 richter and 6.2-magnitude measurements shook southwestern Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning to people in the area.
The first earthquake occurred near Miyakojima Island, belonging to the Ryukyu Islands at 9:26 am local time (00:00 international time), the epicenter of the earthquake located below Miyakojima Island 20 km. At 10:46 local time (01g46 international time), there was another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 richter, the epicenter was 40 km deep under the sea.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning after the second earthquake, warning that the islands in the area could be affected by small tsunamis. People are warned to stay away from coastal areas.
The tsunami warning was later lifted. There is no information about damage or casualties. Miyakojima is located 1,809 km southwest of Tokyo.
